Teacher Tuesday….Water Letters

By: Erin Webber

As the sweet summertime sets in, here is one of my favorite suggestions for having fun in the summer as well as keeping kids up to speed to prevent summer learning loss.

All you need is water, an open space and a watering can.  What child doesn’t love to help garden?  While watering those flowers on hot days, let the kids “write” letters with their watering can.  For older children have them spell their names or simple sight words.

This is a great activity to re-enforce letter formation without sitting down at a table with paper and pencil.  “Writing” letters with water helps involve the whole body.
