Generally speaking, by the time a child enters kindergarten, he or she should have developed their hand preference. If parents are unsure of which hand their child prefers, I advise them to pay attention to which hand their child mainly uses during mealtime, especially as he or she is learning to manage silverware/feeding utensils. Children may begin to show their preference when self-feeding at around the age of two years old.
Is your child right-handed or left-handed? When do you first remember them showing this? Leave us a comment below and let us know. If you have another question pertaining to righty v. lefty, feel free to leave that below as well. We always welcome comments and questions and are happy to answer them for you!
